“After Being Saved February 12, 1961”

God gave me dreams of preaching and starting a church.  In the dreams were 3 brick-o block houses that I would go up and knock on the door and ask about starting a church in the middle block house, this dream continued for many years.

Brother Carl Kelly was one of the instruments that God used to start this work. He telephoned me about a group of us starting a work for the Lord.  At first, I said NO.  He asked me to pray about it and I did, and I felt led by God to participate. Ann Meeks and her husband Reggie Meeks owned several homes on Raymond Street.  They said one of the block houses could be used to start a church.  Wednesday Night, April 19, 1968, we had the first service with 45 people in attendance.  Our first board members were Joe Gray, Carl Kelly, Ann Meeks, Daisy Martin, Jerry Boyd with Wilma Melton as Secretary and Treasurer.  We became a Chartered Incorporated Church on November 6, 1968 our Articles of Faith were printed by Glenn Martin (Sister Daisy’s husband)

On September 31, 1971, we purchased the property at 102 Lutie Street. There were many added to the Church as it grew and prospered. Lillie Tidwell who lived next door to the Church had prayed for a Church close by so she could come to Church. God answered this precious woman’s prayers and sent us to Lutie Street where came to the first service and continued with her great inspiration and helped until her death.

On June 30, 1980, after nine years on Lutie Street, we signed an agreement to purchase the property at 324 Antioch Pike (The Church I had dreamed about preaching inThis property was bought because of a prophecy-(Tongues and Interpretation) by L.D. and Dean Aldridge that God was going to give us this property. The economy at that time was really bad for getting any type of commercial loan, but by the leading of the Holy Spirit, we were told to contact Fidelity Federal’s main office. We were put in contact with a man name Earl Hansen through which a loan was made possible. The loan was for 15 years; however God paid for it in 7 years. Trustees at that time were Joe Gray, Robert Bogle, Hugh Boyd, Minnie Robertson, Darlene Heath and Sheryll Boyd as our Secretary and Treasurer. God blessed everything. We put our hands to remodeling and fixing up the building, putting on a new roof and installing central heat and air.

On October 28, 1991, we bought the property at 318 Antioch Pike. God paid for it in 4 years. Trustees at that time were Joe Gray, Charlene McCrary, Minnie Robertson, Jalena Hodge, Danny Abston with Betty Sue Wood as our Secretary and Treasurer. We prayed for an opportunity to purchase the property at 326 Antioch Pike with many of the members, using Joshua’s strategy, walking around this property, claiming it for God.  On April 26, 1996, we purchased this property. (PRAISE GOD).Trustees at that time included Joe Gray, David Gray, Danny Abston, Gene George, John Hester, Minnie Robertson, Charlene McCrary with Betty Sue Wood as our Secretary and Treasurer.

God gave us a commission, that we have continued to carry on (Mark 16: 15-18). God has sent so many wonderful families throughout these 42 years to help carry the Gospel of Jesus Christ to a lost and dying world.
